Job description

We are looking for a Junior Math Engineer/Data Scientist with a background in applied mathematics to strengthen the Ideation & Research stream in the Digital & IT Business Driver. You will contribute to the development of mathematical models, data-driven analyses, and digital solutions supporting my client mission to accelerate the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

· Contribute to the design and implementation of mathematical models, algorithms, and analytical tools.

· Support R&D and operational teams through data exploration, preprocessing, and statistical analysis.

· Assist in developing predictive models, optimization software, and simulation tools.

· Translate technical findings into clear insights, visualizations, and recommendations for internal stakeholders.

· Collaborate with domain experts (electrical engineers, software developers, analysts) on cross-functional digital and innovation projects.

· Ensure high quality in modeling activities through proper validation, documentation, and reproducibility.

· Contribute to internal knowledge sharing (e.g., best practices, reusable notebooks, small tools).

Profile wanted

Education

· Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar.

· Language: English mandatory, French and/or Dutch

Technical Skills

· Strong background and knowledge in mathematics, statistics, and numerical methods.

· Programming experience with Python.

· Ability to work with datasets, perform data cleaning, and run exploratory analyses.

· Familiarity with machine learning, optimization, or simulation techniques is a plus.

· Experience with version control (Git) is an asset.

· Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
