Assistance in drug creation

A pharmaceutical laboratory needed to identify new patentable molecular combinations from millions of medical publications. Manual research had reached its limits. We built the system that changed the game.

Problem

Finding new patentable drugs is an increasingly time-consuming, expensive, and uncertain process. The laboratory's research teams relied on manual analyses of medical publications and clinical trials to identify correlations between molecules.

The volume of information to be processed greatly exceeded human capacities: millions of publications, hundreds of thousands of clinical trials, complex relationships between molecules to be explored. Without a tool that could automatically extract these correlations and visualize them, major scientific opportunities remained invisible.

Solution

What we built

We deployed a team of 2 Data Scientists and 1 Data Engineer to design a comprehensive molecular discovery support system.

Step 1 — Extraction and structuring of collected data, cleaning and indexing of all relevant medical publications and clinical trials, made accessible via a centralized search API and with no limitation of queries.

Step 2 — Construction of a graph database. Modeling relationships between molecules, publications and clinical results in graph form. Each node is a molecule or a publication, each link an identified correlation — making visible what was previously buried in text.

Step 3 — Data visualization application. Development of an interactive visual interface allowing researchers to explore sub-graphs, navigate between linked molecules and identify new combinations in a few clicks.
