Business intelligence platform design

A customer needed to know what was going on in real time — regardless of the target, subject, language or type of media. After a POC validated in 8 weeks, we industrialized a strategic intelligence platform that is now deployed globally and used daily by business teams.

Problem

The client needed a real-time vision of emerging topics through multiple sources: press, social networks, blogs, forums in several languages and on several types of media (text and image). Existing monitoring tools were either too limited in coverage or unable to analyze content beyond keywords. Business teams discovered trends too late, without being able to quantify their magnitude or compare how they changed over time. A platform was needed that could ingest massively, analyze intelligently and visually report every day, automatically.

Solution

What we built

We deployed a team of 1 Data Architect, 1 Data Engineer, 2 Data Scientists and 1 Full-Stack Developer to design and industrialize a complete strategic intelligence platform.

Step 1 — POC in 8 weeks. Definition of the scope and validation of technical feasibility on a subset of sources and topics. The POC demonstrated value and triggered the shift to industrialization.

Step 2 — Architecture and data ingestion. Establishment of a complete infrastructure on AWS capable of ingesting and storing a very large volume of data from heterogeneous sources, with automated pre-cleaning pipelines.

Step 3 — Visualization application. Development of an interface in ReactJS and VueJS allowing business teams to visualize trends in real time, to filter by subject, target and source, and to follow the evolution of topics over time.

Step 4 — Data visualization application. Development of an interactive visual interface allowing researchers to explore sub-graphs, navigate between linked molecules and identify new combinations in a few clicks.
